Someone sent me these scans via PM on the Codies forums. So I figured I'd share them with you. I just hope the game turns out way better than RO, which played out just as bad as Arma, resulting in a small community and few packed servers.
If these aren't allowed on the forums, I understand. You have Codies, BIA and a few other game studio forums that are ok with these being posted, while the RO and it's mods seem to be against it. They seem to act like it's CIA leaked information. NOTE: Why people scan magazines and don't turn them into PDF just defies logic. ![]() ![]() |

yup this has been around for a while now, and scans are made so people dont have to turn things into pdf.
pictures are fine. I'm looking forward to the first person cover system, I wanna see how that turns out.

Pictures are fine? I'd like to see you tell someone you work for in the corporate world that you are going to send them a jpeg to their Blackberry. Yeah, they have been around for a "while now" even though the page says June 2009. I guess your definition of while now is like three days. Last edited by Fozzy The Bear : 05-27-2009 at 01:55 AM. |

I still want to play RO, but the only servers left are so chocked full of crap that it takes half an hour to download everything from them.

I loved RO.
Imo they have some very interesting ideas with this one, especially first person cover. I hope it works out. I think if they can deliver improved-upon RO gameplay with better graphics (better than those ugly ass playermodels!) and more fluid gameplay, they'll do very well. And get rid of the kill/death messages!

Apparently there's another article covering RO:HOS that's in PC Gamer's July edition for subscribers. Apparently it has different screenshots and information.
If anyone can dig up this article, please post a scan of it here! I've been searching the net endlessly and can't find it.

RO is a weird game. I've owned it since it came out and I absolutely love it. I just don't play it. It's the only game that when I do fire it up I can't believe I never play it, and how despite a few draw backs it's utterly fantastic. Yet the majority of the time I don't have any inclination whatsoever to play it. Probably the only time I do play it is when I see a friend on.
I therefor have very mixed feelings about the new version. I have no doubt it'll be a monumental game with mediocre graphics, just like the old one, yet I don't really forsee myself playing it too much. I am still excited to try it though.

The digital edition of this was 'leaked' a few weeks ago (Something like that) so yeah, I'd say they've been around a while. That's why Tripwire was kinda bummed about it getting out as well, they were hoping they would have time to ship Killing Floor and get that all finished with before news hit.
Does look awesome though, especially to someone like myself who still enjoys playing RO.

I hope that TWI learned from their last game. RO wasn't a smashing hit because it felt to clunky and the default player settings were horrible. If they fix that, I'm sure this time around it will be something people play for over 10 years like OFP.

Well if their recent work on Killing Floor is any sign of how much the team's skills are improving, I think there's lots to look forward to with RO:HOS. Honestly I still can't believe that Killing Floor is a UE2.5 game... they squeezed every bit of graphics power out of that engine and did it with style, all in a measly 6 month period. And if you know what the mod looked like you know what I mean -- I did a double take the first time I booted up the game.
For two years now they've been working on their next RO. They're not stupid and realize the expectations are high. My bet is that since they can basically do things on what ever timetable they want we're going to see a much more polished Red Orchestra than we ever did with Ostfront. That coupled with two single player campaigns, the same great multiplayer insane-ness, a new coop mode in the style of "Terrorist Hunt" from the Rainbow six games, all bundled in with Tripwire's amazingly long and reliable game support, I think it's going make 2010 a wonderful year.

Completely agree. Then all the gameplay elements they changed, really made it that much more enjoyable.

I had the same feeling. It's a great game to play but getting that kick start was the issue. I didn't feel like getting immersed into the game. But now, I play it constantly. Mostly because I can't even tolerate playing DoD:S even for a minute. Whenever I'm playing that horrendous game, all I think about is RO and realize 'what am I doing?' and play RO instead. RO2 looks shiny...wonder if my comp can run it. Other than weird modeling and sluggish movements, I think RO is a great game. |

Thank God someone finally scanned and converted a nice piece of information into pdf format. I hope they work on their textures a little more before they finally release RO2. Last edited by Fozzy The Bear : 06-23-2009 at 09:09 PM. |

First person cover worked well in Killzone 2, but it was taken out for multiplayer cause its definetly on the balls to the walls style of play. This however should be a lot better since taking cover is often needed in RO. And I guess the graphics will attract some people and some of them hopefully turn into realism fans.
